Wagga Wagga, modern outdoor lounge area with glass walls, surrounded by greenery and adjacent to multi-story residential buildings.

JB HOUSE

The Express Building - originally constructed in 1882 as a press hub - has undergone a comprehensive renovation that thoughtfully preserves its heritage while introducing contemporary elements and details. In a reconfiguring of the interiors of two interconnected buildings, the program and spatial flow was enhanced through an expanded scale and greater sense of generosity. A lightweight addition to the rear introduces a winter room and library, blending past and present under the one roof. The ground floor then accommodates a combined kitchen and dining area, while also opening out to a pool, emphasising privacy and the feeling of being within a disconnected sanctuary. In honouring the storied past of the building – and its previous chapters – the new expanded addition also embraces an immersive and refined approach to modern life.
